"Between the Strophes" – the debut work of Ivan Mihalchenkov, who is playing keyboards in one more Moscow electro band Athracitic Moths. This release is a full-length album containing 9 original tracks, atmospheric Intro and Outro and also five remixes by Type V Blood, Freaky Mind, Bleak Freak, Desmodus and Kos Klimenko.
The Author classifies "Between the Strophes" as a mixture of Dark Electro and Darkwave which is quite an acceptable view but after having listened to this album I’d rather refer it to gloomy Harsh EBM from the times of Calva Y Nada, YelworC.
The music of Distorted World represents the symbiosis of analog samples built in symphonic elements, unearthly and sedate distorted vocals, heavy and thick dark atmosphere that throws you down right into the depths of hell where no light or screams can be found. There is only darkness, wet corridors and rotting but living sinners whose ribcages are stuck in with the demons’ pitchforks. Such tracks as 'Mysterious World', 'Between the Strophes', 'Boiler Room', 'Cursed Herd', 'Ruined Kingdoms' and my favorite one 'March of the Rotting Flesh' can easily obsess the true lover of dark images and I should say this is some kind of reincarnation of original Harsh EBM that a lot of European musicians used their occult knowledge in.
I can surely claim that the author managed to create the joint music structure of the album; the tracks substitute each other after they’ve ended and it gives you an impression of sound integrality. Even 'Hexentanz' and 'Devil Worship' with their dancing groove don’t ruin the dark fashion of this music but add variety. The most outstanding part of the album is the duet song 'Dream' of Ivan and Angelina. Girl’s clean vocals dispel the darkness and now we can dream about freedom, favorite crafts, our home to the song but suddenly a muddy voice of a prison guardian pulls us out of this apparition and locks up back in a high tower on the sea bank.
Another advantage of the album is 0% pop music, the whole work is done under the influence of classical sound of electro-industrial of the 90s era. No cyber snivel, just analog beats.
To sum up this is an excellent debut album that is worthy to be praised in any ways. I think this project worth being not only in the Russian music scene but also in the European one. It will be a great success in delivering Russian industrial to the foreign audience.

Данный релиз является полноформатным альбомом с девятью основными треками, атмосферными Intro и Outro отступлениями, а так же пятью ремиксами от Type V Blood, Freaky Mind, Bleak Freak, Desmodus и Kos Klimenko.
Автор классифицирует музыку на "Between the Strophes" как смесь Dark Electro и Darkwave направлений, что в принципе допустимо, хотя после прослушивания альбома я бы скорее отнес работу к мрачному Harsh EBM времён Calva Y Nada, YelworC.
Музыка Distorted World представляет собой симбиоз аналоговых семплов, грамотно встроенных в звуковой ряд симфонических элементов, дикого, но степенного дисторшированного вокала и мрака, многих тонн густого мрака, что низвергает твою плотную сущность до подвалов ада, места, где нет огня и криков, лишь тьма, сырые коридоры и заживо разлагающиеся туши грешников изредка тревожимых чертями, сующими вилы между грудной клеткой. Такие треки, как 'Mysterious World', 'Between the Strophes', 'Boiler Room', 'Cursed Herd', 'Ruined Kingdoms' и мой фаворит 'March of the Rotting Flesh' легко вселяться в душу любителя мрачных образов, можно сказать, что они являются некой реинкарнацией настоящего Harsh EBM'a в котором многие европейские музыканты применяли свои оккультные знания.
С уверенностью могу сказать, что автору удалось выстроить общую музыкальную составляющую альбома, треки великолепно подменяют друг друга после окончания оных, создается впечатление целостности звука. Даже 'Hexentanz' и 'Devil Worship' призванные немного развлечь, более танцевальными ритмами, слушателя не совершают краха созданного мрачного образа, а наоборот добавляют красок и разнообразия. Самой выделяющейся дорожкой альбома можно считать дуэт Ивана и Ангелины на треке 'Dream'. Чистый вокал девушки на время развеивает сгустившиеся тучи забвенности и нам представляется возможность помечтать, о свободе, о любимом ремесле, доме, но хриплый голос стражника темницы вырывает нас из объятия наваждения и водворяет обратно в темницу на высокую башню, стоящую на уступе моря.
Еще одна примечательность альбома - 0% pop музыки, работа выверена под классическое звучание электро-индустриальной волны 90х. Никаких соплей и кибер тряпок, только аналоговый бит.
В итоге мы имеем отличный дебют, достойный всяческих похвал. Я считаю, что этот проект достоин к существованию не только на отечественной сцене, но и на европейской, что будет крепким кирпичом в мостовой дороге русского индастриала направленной на запад.
